Wiz Khalifa

I took this photo of rapper Wiz Khalifa on April 11th, 2011.

Puzzled by the mysterious reversed text on Mr. Khalifa's shirt, I submitted the image to a photo backwardization service, Tri-State Photo Backwardization.  "We can backwardize the photo, but it will be very expensive," they warned.  "Also, it may take up to a year."

"Do it, " I said. "I must find out what his shirt says, no matter the cost or how long the wait."

April 11th, 2012.  I just received the backwardized photo.

Oh, it says "society."  That's interesting, I guess.  Not sure it was worth a year and ten grand.

Next time maybe I'll see if my photo software has some sort of "reverse image" feature.

  1. Now I can't figure out what that sign on the door says. You should send it to "Downtown FlipSide Foto Reversal Specialists". "Half the Price - Half the Time" "Tri to Beat That Tri-State" is their motto. You should have the results back in October for around 5K.

  2. I was thinking about the sign on the door also. Luckily, I'd saved a copy of the original.

Will look into Downtown FlipSide; thanks for the tip.

  3. But why is the word "society" emblazoned on his shirt? Is there a service in the tri-state area that can tell me that? I must know! Money is no object (because I don't have any)!

    1. Good question. I found a place called Metro Explanations Of Hip-Hop Culture To 40-Something White Guys, and I plan to call them tomorrow.

  4. One more comment. The reversed photo makes me feel like I've finally gotten look the "other way" outside your window - towards Broadway. Were it not for the reversed "Exit" sign on the door, I would have believed it.

    1. Karl, there have occasionally been looks in the other direction. Check out the trampolinist entry from last September.

    2. Hey you're right. That must have taken an incredible degree of contortionism to get that photo with the gum actually in the picture. Bra-vo.
