Tom Hanks

Another stressful week: a nerve-wracking election and ongoing post-hurricane troubles.

You know what would make everyone feel better?

Gum photos of universally liked and respected A-lister Tom Hanks!

Tom lets the paparazzi get a few shots while the fans across the street clamor for autographs.

On other visits, when he's not in a hurry, Tom has graciously signed items and posed for fan photos.  But this time…

… he has somewhere else to be.

The supplicants send up a collective groan laced with an occasional "Boo!"

So much for making everyone feel better.

  1. Life is like a box of gum. You never know when supplicants will send up a collective groan.

  2. Hey several months ago you said anyone could stand in the paparazzi area, but in these photos all the anyones are kept across the street. Does it depend on the magnitude of the celebrity?

    1. Maybe. Sometimes you see fans at the back of the paparazzi area taking photos. But autographs generally only happen across the street.

    2. Hmm I would think the New York Department of Streets and Byways (or at least the Police Department) would take a dim view of celebrities strolling across a public right-of-way to give out autographs. I don't know, that just seems to be a bit of a conflict between strolling celebrities and speeding automobiles and garbage trucks. End the end, who am I to say?

    3. We have people who stop the byway traffic so the celebrities can cross. Even the most impatient cabbie or trucker is generally pleased to give the right of way to one of our precious entertainers.
