Robert Downey Jr.

Exciting: getting a big star like Robert Downey Jr.  (Or Robert Downey, Jr.  It's unclear. IMDb says no comma, but Wikipedia has the comma.)

Even more exciting: Just days before setting the clocks back, getting a poignant final beam of direct sunlight shining on the gum.  (IMDb says the gum is Trident, but Wikipedia claims it's Wrigley's.)

  1. I've just had a terrible thought. WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN THE GUM IS COVERED BY SNOW?!

  2. I used to love it many years ago when Morton Downey, Jr. was popular and people would ask if Morton Downey, Jr. was Robert Downey, Jr.'s father. Maybe they thought "Downey, Jr." was the last name.

  3. Seth, I've given some thought to the snow issue. If it's just a dusting, I think it would look beautiful with the gum. An inch or two which creates a vague hump on the window ledge would be okay. If we get several inches, yeah, I'd have to clear some away to show the gum--being very careful not to dislodge it, of course.

Lenny, of course Robert Downey Jr.'s father is Robert Downey Jr., Sr.

Just as necessity was the mother of invention in the research and development of the "Gumbrella," you may be forced to create a "Bubbleblower" to deal with the oncoming snows of winter...

  5. I'm comforted knowing that you've planned for multiple scenarios.

Though I just imagined a bird dislodging the gum and knocking it to the street. I won't be able to sleep tonight.
