Joan Baez

Joan is a legendary singer-songwriter with a deep commitment to social issues.

Human rights, the environment, peace, and better nighttime lighting for discarded gum are just a few of the important causes she's fought for.

Joan, deep in my heart, I do believe, we shall overcome someday.

  1. Too bad the gum wasn't some futuristic glow in the dark gum. That would be cool. Where's science when we need it?

    1. I think I'm done with nighttime shots til next fall. But I am considering some sort of new lighting system for the gum. Even if it's just a flashlight taped to the ledge.

    2. That would take a bit of the magic away. Simplicity makes CelebriGum unique. If you try to light the gum then what's next?

    3. I agree with David. Lighting is a slippery slope. Next thing you know the gum will want more money and a bigger trailer.

    4. It already got both those things at the last contract negotiation.

  2. Tonight Joan must have been emphasizing "green" issues, as the sidewalk outside the theater signals her cause du jour. Or was someone just wanting to get St. Patrick's Day celebrations under way early?

    1. Pretty early St. Patrick's Day celebration. I took the photo on November 7th. I think it's just a quirk of the kind of light that comes from the streetlights.

    2. Of course, I knew it was very early -- just stream of consciousness stuff for me: look at photo and react. Anyway, guess the wearing of the green must be on my mind this week in real-time. Oh, and CelebriGum, as my esteemed colleagues have indicated previously, no need to fret about the lighting.

    1. That's right, I've heard that. Well, there is an Apple connection to CelebriGum: my machine of choice is a MacBook Pro.
